The Popcorn

Popcorn on the stove is so easy and breezy! Plus, a simple tablespoon will do without needing tons of olive oil. It’s a quick and easy way to make it! Usually, you’ll get it done in under 6 minutes, but I also saw some people doing their popcorn in the microwave or even the Air fryer for 10 minutes. You are the chef!
Here are a few tricks to make regular popcorn without a fuss:
- Add just a tablespoon of oil initially, no need for more, and keep the stove on medium heat so as not to burn the kernels.
- Use a thin bottom pot; I like to start it cold; the heat will reach the popcorn faster, and it’s easier to calibrate the heat if it is too strong. For example, it could be a standard pot (big enough) or an iron wok. I’ve tried with a thick bottom pot; the heat needs too long to reach the popcorn, and once it does, it’s hard to calibrate and prevent it from burning.
- Keep it moving: this is a no-brainer; in the beginning, use a wooden spatula to keep the kernels moving; when it starts popping, add the cover and shake every 20 seconds to prevent the popcorn from burning.
Melting White Chocolate
The best way to melt white chocolate is in a Bain-Marie, in other words, a small pot of simmering water (3cm or 1 inch high) onto which to install a larger metallic or glass bowl. While constantly moving the chocolate with a spatula until it is melted and ready to use. You can also use the microwave, but frankly, no time will be saved by doing it this way.
If you want to temper and melt your chocolate like a pro, here are a few tricks:
- Make sure the bowl you use for melting the chocolate has no trace of water; this can mess things up. Make sure it’s dry.
- Cut the chocolate into small pieces to make it melt faster and more uniformly.
- The simmering water shouldn’t touch the larger bowl; the chocolate must melt slowly. It’s also good to keep the upper bowl not too hot, so take it off the simmering water pot occasionally to ensure the chocolate doesn’t cook.
- Once the chocolate is still warm, add to the popcorn and mix immediately; add the sprinkles and freeze-dried raspberry powder as soon as possible to make it stick. Give it a good mix!
